1966 Began a 5 year apprenticeship at Waimea Pottery Richmond Nelson NZ
1971 Qualified as a Master Potter.
1973-1975 Travelled and worked overseas. Worked at Monteville Pottery Queensland Australia and Trowse Pottery Norwich England.
1975 Returned to NZ and established his first Studio & Gallery in Richmond.
1979 Travelled in South America, particularly Bolivia & Peru.
1980 Relocated Studio & Gallery to its present site at 128 Ellis Street Brightwater.
1983 Merit Award Fletcher Brownbuilt Exhibition Auckland. N.Z.
1984 Established Mac's Mud Company. The clay manufacturing business making clay for his own use and to sell to other potters.
1985 Attended an IAC symposium in Tennessee USA
1987 Merit Award in NZ Fletcher Challenge Awards
1988 Became member International Academy of Ceramics (Geneva)
1989 Awarded M.B.E. for services to pottery in New Zealand Began designing for Temuka Pottery New Zealand - ceased 1994 Merit Award Winstones Craft Biennale Box Show. Crafts Council of New Zealand. Commenced painting using watercolour and gouache.
